Crosley CR66 Turntable at work

Some Words about The Crosley CR66…

You can find several Crosley turntable reviews on our site and it is an accident by any means. They not only have many different turntables but they also offer great quality ones at affordable prices. This review is about another great Crosley product that doesn’t fail to deliver that it promises. It’s their so called „5 in 1” turntable which means it can do something that not many turntables are capable of doing: It is not a simple turntable, it actually does more than that as it is a combination of turntable, CD player, AM/FM radio, cassette player, and MP3 player. That’s it. You get all this sold in one unit with decent quality and for an affordable price tag.

Pros

After the Specs, let’s see why you should buy the Crosley CR66 Rochester 5 in 1 Turntable over its competitors, so what are the actual benefits of buying it. It is already pretty obvious from the list of features, that this turntable really does a lot of things. This is definitely of one its biggest advantages compared to the competition. It is hard to find any other brands on the market offering such a complex machine. However, as you may have already experienced, complexity is sometimes against reliability. Simply put, the more things one product can do, the easier it goes wrong.

So you may be thinking: isn’t it too much? Didn’t Crosley go too far with putting this much stuff in one turntable? Another question that may come to your mind: If it really plays so many things, how could they keep the price relatively low? Did they do it on the loss of quality?

Your concerns are completely understandable. You, as many of us, are also used to crappy products that claim to do anything (just buy it) and maybe they even do everything they claim but in fact they do nothing quite well.

Well, let me tell you, this is not the case with Crosley CR66. Crosley did a great job with their 5 in 1 Turntable. Honestly, I don’t really know how they did it. But it works and every part of it works really well. Certainly, you should not expect Rega RP1 quality but again, they are not in the same price range.

The speakers are not the greatest you will ever experience but the sound quality is really decent. It is also really reliable, we know of many audiophiles owning, using Crosley CR66, who have never had any issues with reliability.

It’s also wort mentioning that it plays 3 speeds that not every turntable does. Apart from it, the radio works well, you can also play music from your MP3 device smoothly, too.

Cons

Alright, it’s time to see what the disadvantages of the Crosley CR66 Rochester are. Sure, it is not perfect, as nothing is. However, it has relatively few cons and they’re not major ones.

There was an issue reported by some customers, saying that the record player part sometimes cuts out before reaching the locktrack. The record player plays nicely, the sound quality is decent, too but this issue appeared in some cases.

Another thing to be mentioned is the needle coming as stock with the CR66. We mentioned before that one of the turntable’s great features is that it plays 3 speeds. Unfortunately, the needle is a weak point. Although, the product can play 3 speeds but the needle coming with it is for 33/45 only and you may need another one if you wish to play 78’s. In fact the needle can play 78’s but it may damage the vinyl that you certainly want to avoid. So, be careful with this.

Lastly, the look. We don’t say anything new by stating that it is a vintage turntable. This is not an actual con, more like the question of one’s taste. If you’re not into his design, no matter how many things it does, how good it is, you won’t buy it. But this is just natural.

Conclusion

Let’s make a conclusion summing up what the the Crosley CR66 Rochester 5 in 1 Turntable does well and what it could do better.

It is one of the best “all in one” turntables out there offered at an affordable price. It is built of mostly quality parts and is said to be reliable even after years of usage. It may be a perfect choice for those looking for a turntable under 200 buck that does more than just plays vinyls.

Although, there may be some issues with the record player part, if you buy it new, it comes with a great warranty and in case you get a faulty one (that may happen when buying any products), Crosley will replace it. You may have to replace the needle in case you wish to play 78’s but that’s not a great investment to be honest.

If you will go on Amazon.com through our link, you will see many 1 star reviews. You should read them with enough criticism. We don’t know why there are so many of them, probably many are fake. It really is good a good turntable. You will see that most of the positive reviewers don’t understand it either. Briefly, do your due diligence when reading both, positive and negative reviews anywhere on the net.

If you like the look and you don’t want to spend over 200 dollars on your future turntable, Crosley Rochester is definitely one of the turntables to consider.
